An orthomosaic (often called an “ortho image”) is a detailed aerial photograph created by stitching together drone photos and correcting them so the image is scaled from edge to edge. The result will contain a .tiff ("TIF" file and a .prj ("Projection" file will also be provided that contains the referencing information.
A Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is created from drone photos and represents the height of the ground across a site. Every point in the DEM has an elevation value, allowing the land to be viewed, measured, and analyzed in three dimensions. This makes DEMs useful for understanding slopes, drainage, and elevation changes that aren’t obvious from photos alone. The DEM file will be provided as a .tiff.
A DXF file containing contour lines is a design-ready file that shows elevation changes across a site. Each contour line represents a consistent height, allowing professionals to understand the terrain, measure slopes, and plan construction or land use. Because the file is in DXF format, it can be opened directly in AutoCAD and other design software without conversion.
